Is Progress Always Good?

It’s true that humankind wouldn't have gotten where it is today if in their mind wasn’t this strong principle of always going forward to progress. Indeed, that is an admirable thing of ourselves. Parents try to push and support their children so they can get where they couldn’t. Tutors trust their uncompleted researches in hands of their tutees. And this happen in most of the fields humans are related with. We hope that future generations can get further than where we were when our life’s sunset stopped us. But this endless hunger for progression could drive them directly where we don’t want them to be.
What would be of the earth we know today without airplanes, or electricity, or even internet? That rhetorical question drives us to a scenario that most would describe as a nightmare. The world we know today is thanks to the efforts of previous generations and the continuity of their ideals by us. That’s a great example that people expectation of life is now longer than before and it continue to grow. Also men were put on the moon by machines that built by geniuses . It’s plenty of examples out there.  Be aware though. Perhaps progress is not always the answer.
The growth of energy consumption is an intrinsic   characteristic of development. In the last decade we have consumed more energy than we had since the beginning of humanity. And that fact is likely come up again in 10 years, and so on if we keep doing like we are now. This empowers the global warm up, and the destruction of our environment. Up to this point humanity is pretty concerned about it, but we are not sure how to stop it because we would have to stop the flow of life like it is now. This consumption factor is driving in a track to nowhere.
We have to come up with new ideas to stop this voracious waste of energy but at the same time don’t stop progress. No one said it’ll be easy. No one said it’ll be impossible. Once again we have to plant a seed of a tree that our predecessors will take care of.  We have to start a project that will save energy, preserve our home, and won’t stop the flow that has brought the men where it is nowadays, the same flow that will take it to where it is going to be, of course, if nothing else stops it.
